SOUTH END. 300 East has a sophisticated European feel ­ a bit Bohemian, a bit Champs-Elysées ­ and always makes for a memorable evening. The antique mahogany bar is where you'll find one of the best martinis anywhere, and, unlike some bars, 300 East's food is the perfect complement to your libations. They also boast a full Sunday brunch menu, including veggie eggs Benedict and a light breakfast of bagels and fruit. Sandwiches, salads and selected entrées are also available. On seasonable days, snag a table on the outside patio surrounded by cascading lantana and black-eyed susans.

DILWORTH. A stalwart member of East Boulevard's restaurant row, City Tavern offers an appetizing Sunday brunch featuring cinnamon raisin French toast, omelet Florentine, and the tavern favorite, eggs and pork tenderloin. On the lighter side, try the fruit salad or the fabulous breakfast potatoes. The City Tavern also serves lunch and dinner and has been noted as one of Charlotte's best restaurants and/or nightspots in several local rags.

MYERS PARK. If you slept in late but still want to start the day right, this is the place to go! In addition to receiving high marks for its fun, family-friendly atmosphere, the joint serves breakfast eats and downhome favs like she-crab soup and shrimp-n-grits all day long (that qualifies as brunch, right?). When you go, be prepared to see all walks of life ­ from judges and CEO's to working men and women ­ as just about everyone claims Eddie's one of their favorite places for breakfast and brunch.

SOUTHPARK. At all hours, Harper's draws a crowd in search of huge salads, chicken or burgers, and California wood burning oven pizzas. Festive enough for families yet intimate enough for a date, this destination always ranks high for great service, good food and reasonable prices.

MYERS PARK. Step back in time when you enter the Hotel Charlotte through the old speakeasy exterior. Its interior is actually furnished from the old Hotel Charlotte that existed in the early days. The bar is 130 years old and boasts an extensive selection of beers from around the world. Cajun and Creole dishes are the specialty, and when in season, the oyster stew is marvelous. Steaks, chicken, burgers and salads are mainstays, and parents will be delighted with the kids' menu.
